The majority of people will purchase second hand motorhomes through a dealership as you get a certain level of security and the reassurance that if something goes wrong mechanically straight away, you can generally go back to the dealership for a repair or replacement. However, many motorhomers prefer to buy from private sellers, as there are some real bargains to be had if you are willing to do the leg work yourself.

The first thing to bear in mind when looking for a motorhome privately is that the hunt for the right ‘van is going to take longer than if you simply visited a few dealerships, so be patient and keeps your eyes open for a good deal. It helps if you know which models you are looking for in advance, so make a list of the features you’d like and order them from most important to least, that way you’ll be able to narrow your search to a number of different makes and models.

When viewing the motorhome make sure you ask lots of questions, be polite but don’t be embarrassed to ask whether there have been any repairs in the past and if these were done at a dealership or by the owner. Generally speaking, it’s bodged repair jobs that are going to be the first thing that go wrong, so be sure to check the motorhome carefully and get all the info you need before parting with your cash. Ask to see the vehicles log book, proof of ownership, plus the tax and MOT documents at this stage.

Always check for signs of rust or damaged bodywork on the outside of the motorhome, because as well as being problems for the structural integrity of the motorhome these can also lead to damp inside, as water gets in through the cracks. Once a motorhome has developed damp or mildew on the inside it is very difficult to get rid of and can render the motorhome unusable, so it’s vitally important you check carefully on the outside and inside for any signs of damage.

Also make sure you see the motorhome in full working order, this means asking for the beds to be pulled out and turning the electrics on briefly to check that the lights, refrigerator, electric heater etc all seem to be working properly. If the seller refuses to get the beds out or seems reluctant to let you have a good look around on your own then alarm bells should be going off in your ahead, and it may be time to walk away from the purchase.

It isn’t likely you’re going to be able to drive the motorhome yourself, and in fact this would be illegal unless you have adequate insurance cover but it’s worth asking to be taken on a short test drive so you can assess the drive quality of the motorhome. You should be able to listen carefully for grinding gears or squeaking brakes, and of course watch the driver to see if he is struggling with heavy steering, sticking gears or slow acceleration.

Other key things to check are the tires, windscreen, bumpers and wheel arches as these are the areas which are most commonly damaged through normal use, and whilst not a reason to walk away any repairs that you’ll need to make after buying should be factored in to your price offer.

As you would when looking at second hand cars, be sure to find out when the motorhome was last serviced and how long until the next MOT is due. Also remember that before you drive away in your newly purchased motorhome it is a legal requirement for you to have adequate insurance cover. Obviously this needs to be arranged after you have purchased the motorhome but before you collect it from the seller, so make sure that the seller knows the situation and you let them know exactly when you’ll be collecting it from them.

Also make sure that the insurance you take out covers you for the usage you intend for the motorhome, i.e. if you plan to holiday abroad that European cover is included, and that any motorhome equipment which you may have is also covered. If the motorhome is particularly large or heavy then also consider whether the recovery service that may be offered is capable of towing the vehicle, and ideally go for a company that doesn’t have any weight or size restrictions.

From the very beginning, Disney World’s founder Walter Elias Disney, fostered the spirit of creativity, innovation and excellence that continues to underlie all of the company’s success today, History has been made over and over again when we watch his World famous characters such as Mickey Mouse, and Donald Duck, emerge from drawings on a sheet of paper, to real life characters who are a constant source of enjoyment and laughter as we meet them on our journey through Disney World.

The original Mickey Mouse cartoon, was the first to be fully synchronized with sound, and called the Jazz Singer which you can see glimpses of in the Epcot Space Ship Earth attraction, this innovative cartoon design, propelled Walt Disney into History, History that we see all around us in the theme parks in Orlando. Steamboat Willie opened to rave reviews at the Colony Theater in New York November 18, 1928. Mickey Mouse was an immediate sensation around the world, and a series of Mickey Mouse cartoons followed, this magic and unique entertainment is all on offer at Disney World today.

Walt Disney also made history when the Disney world theme park opened in 1971, sadly Walt Disney did not live to realize his dream, but his brother Roy was determined to leave a lasting legacy by naming the attraction after his brother. The park in Orlando was a 28000 acre site which dwarfed the 400 acre site at Disney Land in California, today the park lives up to Walt’s intention, he wanted Orlando to be a destination resort with golf courses, Hotels, Camping ground facilities and shopping area’s, all connected together with a monorail transport system.

Roy Disney died only two months after the opening of Disney World, however Disney World continued to make History in the form of a grand opening, of the, Grand Floridan Holiday resort together with Caribbean resorts in 1988 and 1999 respectively. Making Disney World the biggest theme park in the World, entertaining millions of visitors from across the globe each year.

Disney MGM Studios theme Park, Pleasure Island, and Typhoon Lagoon followed in the creative footsteps of Walt Disney, the magic continues today with Blizzard beach joining as another gated attraction together with Animal Kingdom. Mickey’s Toontown in the heart of Magic Kingdom, the Indiana Jones live theatre attraction at the Disney Hollywood Studios, continue to cement the name of Walt Disney in the annals of History for their innovative design, not seen in other theme parks, these unique themed parks will provide unique entertainment for fun people families for many generations to come.

Even today Walt Disney is synonymous with creativity, the Disney resort in Europe opened on April 12th 1992, and called Disney Land resort Paris, has six uniquely constructed Hotels and campground area’s, it received over 11 million visitors in it’s first year and continues today to be the most visited attraction throughout Europe.

Dubai, the crowning jewel of the UAE is always in the news for its wonderful new creations like the ‘Three Palm Islands’, Burj al Arab hotel, and Burj al Khalifa tower. A vacation to Dubai gives you a range of exotically delightful time killers like wadi bashing, dune bashing, desert camel safaris, and even skiing to choose from. Just bear the following tips in mind to ensure yourself a literally zero inconvenience experience.

Obey the Law:

Dubai is a stickler for rules and one of the strictest legal enforcers in the world. Everybody wants you to have a blast in Dubai, but at the same time, you would be expected to follow rules and regulations to the dot. After all, being strict about the sanctity of law has made Dubai one of the most crime free regions in the world.

Dehydration:

This is one very real danger in Dubai. Drink plenty of juices and water and avoid the sun as much as possible. After all getting a touch of the sun would take out all the fun out of your holidays that you anticipated while buying your cheap ticket. In fact, Dubai is known to sleep during the day and burst into life during nights.

Avoid the summer season:

Dubai summers are scorching and the destination should be visited during winter months, when temperatures hover at around 20 degrees Celsius.

Social Etiquette:

Arabs are legendary for their hospitality, courtesy, and respectful treatment of their guests. However, they also expect to be repaid in the same coin. This is all the more important in matters concerning Arabic women. For instance, if you are a male, it would be prudent not to initiate handshakes.

Do not Visit during Ramadan:

Ramadan is the holy month in the Muslim world. During this time, followers of the Islamic faith keep fasts everyday and pray during specific times of the day. Unsurprisingly, Dubai meticulously follows these tenets. Even tourists are not allowed to eat, drink, or smoke in public during this month. So, don’t fall for the budget ticket offered during this month.

Bargain as much as Possible:

Dubai is known as the city of merchants and its souqs (traditional bazaars) are bargain havens. You can even pick up gold and electronics items at throw away prices. However, to be successful, you have to bargain hard as the traders actually expect this and fix prices accordingly.

If culture is your thing, you will probably want to take a visit to the capital city and the hub of ancient civilisations as part of your holidays to Turkey. Istanbul is a magical place of where the history is embodied in the old stone walls, palaces, mosques, domes and minarets (the tall, thin spires used to broadcast the Muslim call to prayer).

Of the many attractions in Istanbul, you will definitely want to tour the Dolmabahçe Palace, a huge Ottoman imperial palace once occupied by the Sultans. There is enough to see here to take up the whole of your Turkey holidays; you can explore scores of ornately decorated chambers with high ceilings, chandeliers, tall pillars and grand cascading staircases. The palace has almost three hundred rooms, and looking out the giant windows on the shore-facing side, you may even see dolphins in the Bosporus River, which washes against the walls of the palace.

Closer to the heart of the city, you’ll find the Galata Tower, one of Istanbul’s most prominent landmarks. No withering spire, this is a sturdy stone cylinder rising over the city. At its top, you can look out over Istanbul from under its archways and take in one of the best viewpoints of the city; what’s more, you can take a meal near the top too. Although from the outside the Galata tower shows its age, having been built in the mid-1300s, the interior is surprising, with elevators, and floors dedicated to shops, a tavern, and a night club on the top floor. Here you can enrich your holidays in Turkey with the traditional Turkish music, costume and folk dance that makes up the ‘Turkey Show’. The programme of entertainment even includes a belly dancer and a harem show.

If the idea of experiencing some of the native traditions on your Turkey holidays, appeals to you, the quiet resort of Akyaya is waiting to be explored. There are planning restrictions operating in the Akyaka region to ensure that new developments do not spoil the charm of the existing settlements. You will see how the local architecture often has an element of an octagon in its shape, which is characteristic of the Mugla province where Akyaka is located. The local fishing tradition endures here, so during your holidays in Turkey you can sample the delicacies caught in clean waters of the Gulf of Gökova in Ayaka’s restaurants. A boat trip out into the gulf is a pleasant way of taking in the beauty of this place.

The same is true of the coastline around the Loryma Peninsula. This is an area of meandering shorelines with the mountains rising imposingly behind the sandy beaches. Like all coastal destinations in Turkey, holidays here will benefit from the scenic setting and the crystal blue water just a few steps from your hotel.

It’s the water and the scenery that makes Gulet cruises tremendously popular itineraries for holidays in Turkey. The Gulet motor powered yachts enable holiday makers to access idyllic spots usually out of reach, while all the time taking in the scenic beauty of the Turkish shores

East African countries include Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. The pride of East Africa is a real lifetime experience which will require you to carry binoculars and camera of high quality to enable you take the best memorable photo shoots especially of the spectacular game viewing in the Serengeti and the Masai Mara game reserve. In these two parks, you will watch the biggest wildebeest migration ever in your life and also see the big five probably for your first time! You will be lucky to see the two giant mountains (Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt Kenya) in Africa. Gorilla tracking in Uganda, flamingo watching in Lake Nakuru, bird watching in lake Manyara and wildlife viewing in Ngoro Ngoro crater is a must watch.

Game viewing in the early morning and late afternoon is highly recommended since animals are very active at this time. Due to the hot sun during the day, animals relax in the shade to avoid exhaustion. East African tours especially in the game reserves/parks will be accompanied by dust as you drive through rough roads and many pot holes. You will therefore need to cover your cameras, tighten your safety belts and bear with the situation as you explore what Mother Nature has offered Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Remember to carry sun screen, insect repellent, sun glasses and enough sanitary requirements.

Before you plan your tour to East Africa, it is important to identify your personal interest. For instance, you can have your adventure in a small or a big group, as a couple or as a family. You can decide to go camping where you will enjoy game viewing, go mountain climbing or bird watching. You can also choose your own itineraries or let the tour operators do it on your behalf. Always pick a reputable and trusted tour operator so that you can enjoy your safari.

Depending on the availability of money, decide on a budget and timeframe that will suit your vacation needs. East Africa has various amazing animals, many natural wonders and there is no tour budget that will disappoint you! You should have a visa/passport on arrival to the airport and, always respect and check all visa rules with your travel agency. Limit your baggage weight as much as possible to cut on payment cost. Photographing of the locals is not allowed unless permitted by your tour guide. Visitors are required to take precautions against Malaria since some places in East Africa are prone to Malaria. There are qualified doctors in all hotels and lodges ready in case of an emergency.

Taking your family on a safari to Africa is in fact the best reward you could ever give to your children! Exploring the African bush as you drive through parks and watching lions (king of the jungle), leopards and big elephant families at a close distance will be unbelievable. This will probably be the first time for your kids to be in African and they will indeed very excited. All those wildlife movies acted in Africa will finally become a reality in their eyes. The various bird species, small and the big five, people, cultures and beautiful features will be a wonderful experience full of enjoyment.

The best place to take your family for a safari is South Africa. South Africa has a lot of advantages for instance; most game parks are Malaria free therefore your children will not be in danger of Malaria infection. There are many small parks with plenty of wildlife where you can view animals without using much time. This is good especially if you have small kids since they will hardly get bored. The roads are excellent as compared to those in other African countries. Traveling for long distances therefore does not take long and your kids will still be comfortable. Self-drive is allowed in most parks and you can have extreme privacy and unlimited time for game viewing.

Regarding health, South Africa has excellent doctors and health facilities including heart transplant surgeons and in case of an emergency proper care is readily available. However, whether you decide to have your safari in South Africa, Kenya, Namibia or Tanzania, it is always good to ask your tour operator for the best time of the year to visit depending on the field of your personal interest. Visa and passport are important identification documents required for entry in all African countries. Depending with the age of your children, always choose the lodges, camps and activities that are appropriate for them.

Open land rovers and 4 wheel drives provide excellent game viewing. The best time for a wildlife safari is during the dry season since there is little vegetation cover. Animals gather in the few vegetation covered areas and the remaining waterholes which allow for good photographing. Let your children enjoy every moment of your safari by providing cameras and binoculars to each of them, sun glasses, hats and neutral clothes that will match with the environment. Encourage your kids to follow all rules from your tour guides to avoid scaring or distracting the animals.
