The beach paradise of Goa is one of the most sought after places for a destination wedding. If you have some exotic ideas for a destination wedding then, wedding planners in Goa will help you transform your dreams into reality. Most couples who plan a wedding in Goa follow it up with a honeymoon also at the beach paradise of Goa. Having a honeymoon in Goa after exchanging marital vows is one of the most thrilling and blissful experiences you can have.

Wedding planners in Goa help couples to choose the exact location for their wedding within the magical state of Goa. Choosing the right hotel based on your budget and preferences is an onerous task and wedding planners help you to narrow down your choices. The right hotel that can provide comfortable accommodation for your friends and family members is critical. You would surely want your guests to carry pleasant memories with them after they depart.

Wedding planners nowadays, play a key role in the design and conceptualization of invitation cards. Besides this, the flower arrangements, décor and set up of the pandal and mandap is also undertaken by experienced wedding planners. If one is new to the city then choosing the right caterer is also a tough task. Wedding planners will help you not just to choose the caterer but also in conceptualizing the menu. Theme based menus are the flavour of the season wherein the entire menu and the décor revolves around one particular theme. For example if a couple chooses a Mediterranean theme then the décor, colour and menu would revolve around the same. For a Mediterranean theme, aqua marine colours would dominate the décor and the menu may contain Mediterranean dishes like Humus and falafel.

In today’s digital era, weddings have gone hi-tech and wedding planners would help you web cast your weddings to friends and family members who are otherwise not able to attend the celebrations. They can not only watch but family members at remote locations can also interact with the guests present at the venue. Planning for gifts that can serve as perfect return gifts is also taken care of by wedding planners themselves.

A Maharashtrian Wedding takes place in the morning. Traditionally, the most important aspect of a Maharashtrian/Marathi wedding is that the stars of the prospective groom and the bride should match. The Marathi wedding process is described below.

PRE WEDDING MAHARASHTRIAN MARRIAGE RITUALS

Sakhar Puda
As the marriage is fixed, the respective families of the bride and the groom exchange a packet of sugar to informally mark the engagement of the couple

Wang Nischay
Wang Nischay refers to the formal engagement ceremony where a kuldevta-pujan is performed in both the houses after which the families meet up along with a priest.

Haldi Chadawat
During the haldi ceremony, which is usually a day before the wedding, mango leaves that have been immersed in haldi paste are applied from the feet upwards over the whole body of the bride. The groom is also applied the haldi paste in a similar fashion in his own home.

WEDDING DAY MAHARASTRIAN RITUALS

Ganesh Puja
On the morning of the wedding, a puja is offered to Lord Ganesh to seek his blessings for the success of all the following rituals.

Seeman Puja
As the groom’s entourage arrives at the wedding venue, a Seeman Puja is performed as a way of welcoming the groom. Afterwards, the parents of the bride wash the groom’s feet and shower him with gifts.

Ceremonial Breakfast
Since the wedding entourage usually arrives in the morning, the bride’s parents spread out a lavish lavish ceremonial breakfast for them

Gowrihar Puja
As the groom is having breakfast, the bride performs a Gowri-har puja simultaneously

THE MAHARASHTRIAN WEDDING
As the auspicious time for the wedding approaches, the bride is accosted to the mandap by her maternal uncle. The groom and the bride are not supposed to look at each other as the antarpat ceremony takes place where a silk partition is placed between them. Only after the chanting of several specific mantras is the antarpat removed. This is followed wit the guests showering unbroken rice over the couple. The process of kanyadan and saptapadi are similar to those of any Hindu marriage where the father hands over the his daughter to the groom and later the couple take seven rounds or pheras around the ceremonial fire.

POST WEDDING MAHARASHTRAIN MARRIAGE RITUALS

Reception
The reception or the wedding feast takes place in the evening where the guests are served sweets by the newly weds themselves. A peculiar feature is that first the groom’s family has lunch and the bride’s family

Grihapravesh
As the newly weds proceed towards their new home, the mother of the groom welcomes them on the threshold of the house and washes their feet with water and milk followed by an Aarti after which the bride puts foot in her new home by tipping over a vessel filled with rice.

Nowhere is the unique diversity of India more evident than its marriage traditions and ceremonies. With multitudes of different religion, traditions and customs, Indian weddings are a melting pot of myriad wedding traditions.

Modern India too has evolved some of its own wedding traditions such as the Indian wedding barat and the Indian wedding games. Some popular games, such as hiding the shoes have even been glamorized by Bollywood movies. Barat refers to the procession of the groom on a horseback, accompanied by family members, relatives and friends. The groom sits on a decorated white mare (ghodi), resplendent in his wedding attire, and usually carries a sword. A barat is an occasion of much revelry and you can often see the relatives of the groom dancing with gay abandon on the streets as they proceed towards the wedding venue.

Another important wedding tradition that has stood the test of time is the use of Henna for adorning the hands and feet. Pertaining to ladies, the art of applying Henna, also known as Mehendi goes back as far as 5000 years ago, but you can see still se eager women- young and old get henna applied to their hands during the occasion of a wedding ceremony. Even through Henna is green in color and appearance, when applied on the skin, it takes a orange- reddish hue. These days one can even go for fanciful Mehendi colors in gold, silver and black, but those are liable to cause allergic reaction. Henna is best to be appreciated in its purest form. You can get beautiful, intricate designs imprinted on your hands and feet that will lend a traditional yet a contemporary look to your overall get-up for a marriage function.

These days, there is generally a Mehendi night as a part of the pre-wedding functions where lot of Mehendi artists come and apply henna to the ladies of the house to the accompaniment of dholaks and much revelry. Nikhil Bhide – The Wedding Planner will arrange for all your needs and recreate a magical Mehendi night for you. We would book professional Mehendi artists who would recreate magical designs on your hands and feet.

Some of the traditional Hindu wedding rituals are:

Vara Satkaarah: This refers to the reception accorded to the bridegroom and his kinsmen at the entrance of the wedding venue where the groom receives blessings from the bride’s mother who applies a tilak of vermilion and turmeric powder on his forehead.

Madhuparka Ceremony: The groom is accorded another welcome, this time by the father of the bride at the wedding mandap.

Kanya Dan: One of the most purest sacrifices ever, the bride’s father gives away his daughter to the groom to the accompaniment of chanting of sacred mantras.

Vivah-Homa: The sacred fire ceremony is kindled by the priest presiding over the marriage ritual to ensure the commencement of all auspicious activities.

Pani-Grahan: The bride’s right hand is placed in the groom’s left hand whereby he accepts her as his lawfully wedded wife.

Pratigna-Karan: With the bride leading, the couple walks around the sacred fire while taking vows of loyalty, steadfast love and life-long fidelity to each other.

Shila Arohan: The mother of the bride assists her to step onto a stone slab and counsels her to prepare herself for a new life.

Laja-Homah: The couple offer puffed rice into the sacred fire as a symbol of offering to the Fire God, whereby the bride stands in front of the groom and keeps her palms over those of the groom.

Parikrama/ Pradakshina/ Mangal Fera: The most important aspect of a Hindu wedding ceremony, taking these seven rounds around the sacred fire legalizes the marriage according to the Hindu Marriage Act as well as traditional customs.

Saptapadi: Saptapadi indicates the seven steps taken by the couple that represent nourishment, strength, prosperity, happiness, progeny, long life and harmony and understanding, respectively. This is done after the groom’s scarf has been tied to the bride’s dress.

Abhishek: Abhishek entails sprinkling of water, meditating on the sun and the pole star by the couple.

Anna Praashan: The couple gives oblations in the fire and then feed a morsel to each other as an expression of their mutual love and affection.

Aashirvadah: The couple receives blessings from all the elders in the family who wish them a successful married life

Some other rites that have been mentioned in one of India’s oldest religious books- Manusmriti that describes the different types of marriage are:

Rite of Brahmana (Brahma) – This rite involves the father of the bride inviting the prospective groom who is a man learned in the Vedas and of good conduct to his house and handing his daughter to the him after decking her with jewels and costly garments.

Rite of the Gods (Daiva) – Here the girl, bejeweled with ornaments is handed over to a priest who carries out a sacrifice.

Rite of the Rishis (Arsha) – According to this rite, the girl is married off after the groom makes a offering of a cow and a bull.

Rite of the Prajapati (Prajapatya) -The parents marry off their daughter while blessing the newly wed couple with these particular words-”May both of you perform your duties together” .

Rite of the Asuras (Demons) – The groom receives the bride’s hand in marriage only after he has given enough wealth to her kinsmen.

Utsav Sarees asked:

The word “Indian punjabi wedding” is synonymous to fun and folic. A time when the entire family gets together to raise a toast to the bride or the groom. The families belonging to the lad and lass rejoice every moment of this pomp and show. Indian punjabi weddings have always been center of attraction for people around the world because of its colorfulness.

Indian Punjabi weddings have always been popular for its colorful Indian dresses, joyful music and lots of traditions. If a person is invited to an Indian Punjabi wedding, then he/she want to dress accordingly to match the colorfulness of the wedding.

Even the masses unanimously believe that a Indian punjabi wedding is worth attending. In other words, being a part of a punjabi wedding is a delight to ones eyes. The outfits, which the near and dear ones wear, are vibrant and colorful. The ladies of the family wear heavy sarees with a lot of gold or diamond or antique jewelry.

Prior to the day of the wedding, there are many ceremonies that take place like ladies sangeet, cocktail party, mehendi etc. These occasions have captured the hearts of young and old people. Heavily embroidered Indian dresses like sarees and salwar suits are worn on these mehendi and sangeet ceremony.

The bride is obviously not left behind when it comes to a Punjabi wedding. She mainly wears shades of red, pink, maroon, etc with matching ornaments. Most of the Punjabi brides go for embroidered punjabi patiyala suits. The groom can be traced in “sherwani”. And colors might range from light brown with heavy work or cream with matching chudidar.

With growing trends in fashion, people have become more advanced as far as their choices are concerned. Times gone when monopoly of Punjabi suits were seen in Indian Punjabi weddings. These days Indian Punjabi brides and wedding crowd can also be seen in sarees and lehnga cholis with heavy embroidery or stonework or sequence work or zari work.

Thus, while getting ready for a Punjabi wedding, one should consciously select the choice of color. Then comes the style of dress that is to be worn, e.g. lehenga, lacha, suit (chudidar-kurta, parallel-suit, patiala salwar-kurta) or saree. And at the end it would undoubtedly be the make-up and the hairstyle. In any season, it is advisable not to put heavy make-up. And the hairstyle should be as per the face structure or as per the discretion of the client.

Towards the end it can be said that a Punjabi wedding does add life to the marriage constitution. It is one of the most sought-after weddings as compared to others. Endless dancing, gaiety, and laughter are in the air. Gifts are exchanged between close families and ‘sagan’ or money as a token gift is given to the newly-weds.

India is the land of 28 beautiful States and 7 Union Territories. Each state is different from another in many ways. Each state has its own language, traditions, customs, rituals etc. In short and snappy terms, unity in diversity is one of the finest features of India. India is distinguished for its proud culture and customs and one of them is Indian Wedding. Each state has its own style, own style even own wedding ways.

One of the beautiful states of India is Uttarakhand. This state has two regions Garhwal & Kumaon. Garhwal is a beautiful region surrounded by stunning hills, picturesque vistas and scenic beauty on all sides. Furthermore, it is also well known for its superb wedding traditions as well as anti dowry approach. Today the time has been changed but some customs are still the identical in the region such as pre-arranged marriages are preferred, matching the horoscopes of the future bride and bridegroom, status of the family, rigid caste system etc.

After following all the above steps engagement ceremony is the next pivotal step of Garhwali wedding. By tradition, the marriage procession is led with a white flag known as ‘Nishan ‘(representing the bridegroom) along with traditional band that are shehnai, piper, a pair of drummers and a nagara. The last man of the marriage procession carries red flag that represents the bride. On arrival at the brides residence like any other Indian wedding food is served along with flawless services and ethnic style. Nose ring ceremony also known as ‘nath ceremony’ is one of the unique customs of Garhwali Wedding. In this ceremony beautiful traditional Nath is presented to the bride.

After that the Phera ceremony takes place. In succinct, they have to complete the seven rounds of the sacred fire. While returning the marriage procession is led with the red flag along with the red ‘Doli’ of the bride as well as ‘Palki’ of the bridegroom. Now the last man of the marriage procession carries white flag instead of red flag. Many rituals and ‘Puja’ takes place from beginning to last till the bride finally steps into bridegroom’s house. Gauna system is not the part of Garhwali Wedding.

In addition, Garhwali songs, dance, local cuisine, traditional dresses, jewellery all these are few other special features of Garhwali Wedding.

Marriages in Rajasthan are usually traditional and elaborate affairs. Royal Marwari weddings tend to become larger than life and even more flamboyant.

In fact, even a simple Marwari wedding in Rajasthan is just as elaborate as tradition and customs take precedence over everything else.

Rajasthani/Marwari Matrimony:

Rajasthani families take utmost care for the perfect alliance. First and foremost, the status of both the families has to be at par, also, the Marwari clan must be taken into consideration since the bride and the groom should hail from separate clans. Then, the families get the horoscopes approved and tallied by the family astrologer. Marwaris, as a custom, marry only within the community. However, some exceptions are there where royal families or love is involved.

Ceremonies:

The official engagement ceremony

It takes place at groom’s home. This is a strictly all male affair and it is attended by only the bride’s father, brother and other close relatives. No ladies, not even the bride, are allowed to accompany the menfolk for the tika. During the ceremony, bride’s brother applies a tilak to the groom’s forehead and makes the alliance or engagement official. A sword, other presents, clothes, fruits, sweets etc., are given to the groom by the bride’s family.

Ganapati Sthapna & Griha Shanti Ceremony:

Ganapati sthapana & griha shanti is the second most important ceremony, which is performed usually a few days before the wedding. A havan is performed by the groom or bride’s parents to propitiate the gods and an idol of Lord Ganapati is worshipped.

Pithi Dastoor:

The Pithi Dastoor is one of the first important ceremonies in Marwari Weddings, it involves the bride & groom and continues till the day of the wedding. The ceremony consists of application of turmeric and sandal wood paste to the bride/ groom. Also, they are not allowed to leave the house once the pithi starts. At the bride’s place, the pithi dastoor is an elaborate affair. The bride dresses in an orange poshak (Rajasthani dress) and is brought under a silken canopy by four ladies who must belong to the same clan as the bride. She is then brought to the gathering, where the sandal wood paste is applied on her.

Mahira Dastoor:

The Mahira Dastoor is yet another important ceremony, performed at both the bride and the groom’s families. This ceremony is usually performed by the maternal uncle of the groom/bride, who comes along with his wife and family and is received by the bride/groom’s mother with the traditional welcome. He then distributes clothes, jewellery, sweets etc., to the entire family. This ceremony depicts a brother’s love for his sister, who helps her to curb the expenditure.

The Marwari Baraat:

The procession to the bride’s house is regal as there is absolutely no dancing on the streets by the baraatis. The Baraat is mainly commenced by the male members of the groom’s family. All members, including the groom who rides an elephant or a horse, carry swords.

The Wedding ceremony:

The wedding ceremony is similar to a Hindu wedding. However, during the Rajasthani wedding, the bride must all through the ceremony cover her face with a veil.

While the wedding is in progress, the Baraat is entertained outside by the male members of the bride’s family. Therefore, it is mostly the female members of the bride’s family who attend the wedding ceremony.

Leaving certain unique rituals, all other ceremonies and other rituals, including the bidai, are similar to other Hindu marriages. For example, at the time of the bidai (when the bride leaves her parent’s house), a coconut is placed under the wheel of the car before the ride lifts her veil for the husband after the wedding. At this stage, the groom usually gives a piece of jewellery to the bride.

Post Wedding Ceremony:

Grihapravesh

After all the marriage rituals, the baraat returns with the newly weds and the grihapravesh takes place. The bride and the groom play a few gameswhich are also common to other Hindu weddings.

Pagelagni

The day following the grihapravesh, the pagelagni takes place. During this ceremony, the bride is formally introduced to all the main family members of the groom who bless her and give her various gifts. And finally, the veil is removed.

Paul Friedman asked:

“We stay married just for the kids…” I can’t tell you how many times I heard that from really good people; couples who were willing to endure almost anything for the sake of their children. They only wanted to save their marriage so their children wouldn’t have to suffer from the mistake they made when they got married to each other.

They were willing to live with the marriage trouble for as long as it took to get their kids all set in life and then part. They just wanted me to help them work out some plan for them to make it a bit more tolerable. “What good people,” I thought! But how sad! They had given up on their marriage because they felt they were incompatible yet they both demonstrated uncommon nobility in their willingness to sacrifice for the kids.

Have you considered Making your Marriage a Happy One?

My thinking is if you are agreeing to live together and just want me to help you have a pact, why not come up with a pact that creates happiness. Did that seem reasonable? “Yes,” they all said, “but our therapist said we never should have been married in the first place and we figured he/she knows what they are talking about…”

I told every couple the same thing:

The approach western psychologists have towards marriage is counterproductive

They don’t give helpful advice

Western psychologists have the same rate of divorce as everyone else

Western psychology started out as a system intended to treat diseases of the mind. They never should have jumped into trying to save marriages; there is no reasonable connection. Troubled marriages are not the result of troubled minds. If anything, troubled minds are the result of troubled marriages.

Troubled marriages are the result of misunderstandings. People don’t understand:

What marriage is

What friendship is

What good listening is

What good communicating is

The differences between men and women

What intimacy is or how it has nothing to do with sex

I can go on, but the point is good people who should have great marriages simply do not have the knowledge necessary. When I gave them the knowledge, and I did it in short order, they were not surprised by the quick turnaround they experienced in their marriage and never contemplated anything less than a great marriage ever again.

They saw that it is simple and pretty easy to have a great marriage and they followed the logical suggestions I gave them. More importantly they understood what it took to have a working marriage so they became their own expert advisors.

Most importantly they learned a functional marriage means a joyous marriage.

People aren’t stupid and they aren’t masochists. People are mostly good and want to do the right thing; they just need to know what the right thing to do is.

You can have a great marriage; it isn’t that hard. Don’t think your own situation is beyond fixing. Some folks who wade through the mud of struggles get pretty crusty; but that washes off. You can leave the past behind pretty quickly when the future looks real sweet, that’s for sure. There is hope for you, and your odds are great, so don’t give up. Why would you want to save your marriage just to have endless marriage trouble? You can have a really good marriage and never have to settle for less.

Alex Smoke asked:

A good marriage counselor can be very helpful. Working on the issues in your marriage may seem simple but sometimes it is helpful to have an objective marriage counselor to assist you. A good marriage counselor will give you tools and techniques to improve your communication and help you deal with your problems in a healthy way. Seeing a marriage counselor can make you feel like you have hope for a happy marriage. A marriage counselor knows how to help couples facing money issues, issues with their *** life and other issues that couples often face and can help you overcome your problems.

Top Three Reasons to Look for a Marriage Counselor:

1. To allow you to better deal with the strong emotions that are associated with problems in a marriage.

2. To help you find a path to a happy and satisfying marriage that you can be excited about.

3. To give you the tools you need to work on the problems in your marriage.

If you and your partner are able to cope with the emotions that problems in your marriage bring, to work towards a resolution to your problems and you have the tools to do this than you probably would not get a lot out of seeing a marriage counselor. Couples really need to try to work out their issues themselves first before seeing a marriage counselor. If you and your partner need help dealing with issues in your marriage, though, you should see a marriage counselor because the issues are not going to go away on their own.

What Should You Look for in a Marriage Counselor?

You can simply open up the phone book for your local area and choose a marriage counselor if you want to. You could also get a recommendation from a trusted religious leader or your doctor. The best way to find a marriage counselor is to talk to a friend or family member that has used a marriage counselor and has a much better relationship now. Not everyone is willing to talk about their experiences with a marriage counselor, though, so this is not always easy to do.

However you go about selecting a marriage counselor it is important to choose wisely so you get someone that can really help you. The marriage counselor needs to be someone who you and your partner can be comfortable with so you both need to have input into the choice of the marriage counselor.

It is important to make sure any marriage counselor you select has the right credentials including a license and certification in family and marriage counseling.

Your marriage counselor should have a current license in the mental health field. The majority of marriage counselors have a certificate and license in marriage and family therapy. Every state has their own rules for licensing therapists and counselors. Marriage counselors in most states have to have a Master or Doctorate degree of some sort, must have done training during graduate school in marriage and family therapy and must have worked under experienced therapists for the required amount of time. A marriage counselor has the option of becoming licensed with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) which has its own specific requirements for membership.

A marriage counselor can set up their own office or they can operate out of a health clinic, hospital, or a government organization. Your doctor may be able to recommend a good marriage counselor for you to work with or you can ask people you know if they have any recommendations. Other sources for a marriage counselor recommendation include your insurance company, a religious leader or local government organizations. Or you can just open up the phone book and look there.

When you are looking for a marriage counselor you will want to be sure to ask potential therapists the right questions.

Here are some questions you should ask:

What licenses and certifications do you hold and what professional organizations are you affiliated with?

What degrees do you have and what training have you gone through?

How many couples have you counseled with our specific problems?

What are your fees?

Will our insurance cover any of the fees?

What is your office location and your hours of operation?

What is the length of the sessions you offer?

How often would we meet with you?

How long would we have to attend therapy sessions?

What do you do if we have to cancel a therapy session?

Are you available if we have an emergency?

How Much Does Marriage Counseling Cost?

In most cases, you and your partner will be responsible for part if not all of the cost of the marriage counselor. What types of rates can you expect from a marriage counselor? You can pay anything from $50 to $200 for a session with a marriage counselor but the average price per hour is close to $100. The average couple will spend about 3 months in therapy, meeting with their marriage counselor weekly so the process will probably end up costing close to $1200. This is the average cost of therapy for most couples. Depending on how severe your issues are, though, you could meet with your counselor weekly for as long as a year or two. This could mean spending as much as $10,000 on the therapy but it is a small price to pay if you avoid a divorce.

If you put the cost of a marriage counselor in perspective by looking at how important to you mentally and emotionally to have a happy marriage than it doesn’t seem so expensive after all. You will get more satisfaction from a happy marriage than you would with material goods you could buy with the same money. Actually, people often start working together better and improve their financial situation after they learn how to communicate by seeing a marriage counselor.

It will be up to you and your partner to determine when you are ready to stop seeing the marriage counselor.

Often, men are anxious to stop seeing the marriage counselor as soon as possible even if the therapy sessions were their idea. Sometimes men resent the fact that the marriage counselor is telling them what to do and making sure they are following through. Some men go along with the marriage counselor only as long as they have to to make their wives happy and after the therapy sessions are over they are back to behaving the way they were before the therapy.

If you think that your partner is likely to behave this way, you should not stop seeing the marriage counselor until both of you feel you have made significant progress. It may be a good idea to go see the marriage counselor less often but not stop all together. Seeing a marriage counselor can do wonders for your relationship!
