Unusual Things to do in Orlando

Orlando makes a great venue for a family holiday and you won’t be bored either since there are so many things you can do while you are there.

When you have had your fill of the theme parks what else is there you can do?

Well for starters you can take a trip to Lake Eola Park. The park provides a wonderful respite from all the high octane attractions that Orlando has to offer, and you can enjoy a nice picnic there too if you want to stay for more than a couple of hours. The park is open to the public all day and you can enjoy the well kept surroundings and sidewalks to stroll along.

You can also visit an Odditorium if you wish – thanks to My Ripley and his famous saying, ‘believe it or not’. This is filled with the strangest items you will ever come across, including shrunken heads and a Rolls Royce made out of matchsticks. And if you’re thinking this is a small scale model you would be wrong – it is actually three quarters the size of the real thing.

Perhaps the best part of your trip will be what you see when you first arrive. The right hand end of the building looks as though it is sinking into the ground. It’s quite a sight.

If you like the oddities you find in Ripley’s museum you will love the Wonder Works attraction too. The building isn’t sinking – it is upside down. You’ll see the roof sinking half into the ground and half into the building underneath it, which is of course part of the attraction itself.

Once you have finished taking photos of this spectacle you can go inside and test your skills by trying to land a fighter jet and even climb inside an astronaut’s space suit. This is definitely a strange but fascinating attraction that will entrance the whole family.

One activity that is always great fun for the whole family is crazy golf. Where better to do it than in Orlando, where you know things are going to be slightly different from anywhere else?

In this case you can navigate your ball to the end of each hole, and then feed the real alligators that are also nearby. Congo River Golf is a great place to try out your crazy golfing skills as each of the two courses sports eighteen holes. This makes it a nice morning’s work!

You can stay in one of the many hotels in Orlando that are close by to all of these attractions. But wherever you choose to stay and go, it’s good to know you have lots of unusual venues to visit as well as the most famous ones.
