Opponents of *** marriage: Should we outlaw divorce since it is currently the biggest threat to marriage?

CuriousObserver asked:
If the concern over *** marriage is the idea that it will threaten marriage or the family, it would make sense to outlaw the biggest threat there is to families and marriage: divorce. If we outlaw divorce, it should show people how sacred marriage is don’t you think?

Straight people have already ruined marriage so there really is no threat.
It’s already “outlawed” by some people.
Personally, I think divorce is wrong. If you’re abused or only wanted for money, then that might be different, but honestly if that happens, you should get away from the person, but not get remarried.
p.s. Check this site out: , for the non-gay
Not sure how to answer your question since your question has comitted more than one logical fallacies, for starter, *** hoc ergo propter hoc (thefallacy of mistaking correlation for causation).
‘Marriage’ means the social institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc.
Marriage is a sacred ceremony that is performed to unite ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN in holy matrimony. God hates gays, according to the bible, therefore gays should not be allowed to get married. Marriage is a union blessed by God therefore *** marriage would go against this. Outlawing divorce would do nothing, besides stop people from getting married or create a lot of polygamists……. which is illegal lol. It would make people take marriage more seriously though, which would be good! You have to realize though, most people don’t go into a marriage thinking “if something goes wrong, I can always divorce”, more likely they are going into it thinking “I’ll be with this person FOREVER”. Also, if you think divorce should be outlawed, should pregnancy out of wedlock be outlawed to and force single mothers to abort? That is a big threat to families too. Those kids have to grow up without a dad. So, they shouldn’t be allowed to have children, right? They should abort or give up their child for adoption? I’m just saying there are more things to think about when saying that divorce is the biggest threat to families when in reality, there are other things that are just as big of a threat to families.
Yes outlaw it! I think the bible says divorce is wrong to. Religious hipocrits.
If we end the legal process of Divorce, Country singers won’t have ex wives to sing about anymore.
It follows the same logic, but good luck getting any of these bigots to understand that.
God no don’t outlaw divorce!
I totally agree with your point.
However, I support the rights of all consenting adults to marry, and divorce, as they chose.
Separation of Church and State.
Equal protection under the law. Protecting the rights of minorities, from the majority.
marriage should be outlawed……..that would solve all your problems………..live together all you want………but no marriage for anyone
Why would you even suggest that? Are you asking a legitimate question, or is this a disguised rant? I am not against *** marriage, but don’t you think you should go about this differently? I do not think you are going to convince anyone who disagrees with you to consider your side by mocking them.
The people who agree with you will snicker and say “so true” while the people who disagree with you will just think you are a condescending jerk. And the division deepens… thanks for that.
One has nothing to do with the other. Nice try though.
