According to many marriage statistics, the split up rate is lowering, as many young adults are slower to commit to a person. This allows for those who are committing to remain together for longer. This leads to more a more stable environment for their children. With the adoption of common-law marriages in many areas, many are opting for this route. However, like in marriage, common-law relationships require a court issued divorce to severe. Unlike marriages, it can take anywhere between Six months to 8 years to establish a common-law marriage, which results in few divorces, as those who are not serious about a relationship do not tend to enroll as common-law.
When you look at marriage statistics, it is important that you keep several key things in mind. First, the age of those surveyed within the statistic is important. Many statistics regarding marriage look at those who are wed between ages 18 and 25. These ages are known to have a higher rate of divorce. If you are elderly than this and have never been through a divorce, it may be hard to find statistics that are targeted for your situation.
In addition to this, marriage statistics tend to focus on those who have had divorces or are planning to have a divorce. They seldom look at the classes of individuals at low risk for divorce, spiritual groups among them.
Culture may affect the accuracy of marriage statistics. A lot of statistics pool from the most common denominator. If you are of a culture that is not the absolute majority in your region, the statistics may not speculate your situation.
While marriage statistics can be frighteningly accurate at times, you do not have to turn another statistic.
