Women of America?
Discussion Corner — By NikhilBhide on December 2, 2006 at 07:08ARMD asked:
Just Generalizing. Women who recently come to US say max 20 years bring culture from various countries. They are so feminine and respectful and are involve with extended family and serve in a loving way. U go to weddings say russian, armenian, italian indian etc. and they all have these traditional folk dances and you just fall in love with how simple and old fashion they are. but women who migrated here 100 years ago just lost all that. Now its all getting trashed in bars acting like slobs, fat, rude, lazy and live with roomates 1000 miles away from family. Why is this? No offense on anyone. tx!

I suspect most of my ancestors were here several thousands of years before yours, so the time scale doesn’t make much sense. My Native American ancestors retain many of their customs and dances etc., so I suggest you get out and about and learn a little more about these United States. You clearly have very little experience of American women of whatever origin, so maybe a little less generalization and a little more knowledge wouldn’t come amiss.
First of all, how can you possibly say “no offense to anyone” after saying that last bit? Second, women who “migrated here 100 years ago,” would be awfully old to be hanging out in bars and getting trashed. At best, they’d be 100 years old.
Now, to the meat of the generalization. I don’t know the kind of women you’ve been hanging around with but they must not be very representative of women in American, who haven’t immigrated recently. I never hung out in bars and got trashed. Further, even some that I know who’ve done that on occasion are incredibly hard-working individuals, some with families, who work at high paying jobs and get a full week’s pay for 3 days of 12 hour shifts spent mostly on their feet in life and death situations. They could not be considered slobs or lazy.
What exactly is your problem with fat people? You seem to equate fat people with being slobs and lazy though being overweight is as much an eating disorder as anorexia. You seem to pass judgment on groups of people without knowing anything about their circumstances yet you claim not to want to “offend anyone.” I don’t mean to offend, but you seem like an idiot, with a poor command of writing in the English language–but no offense. See how foolish that sounds?
As for women moving 1000 miles away from families, isn’t that what women who immigrate to the US from other countries are doing? Yet you seem to praise them. Perhaps you need to figure out what you’re talking about before you generalize–but no offense.
Women deals with alot of emotional factors and when they get hurt in someway or another they feel their self-esteem has been let down and it causes their pride to drop in giving up on themselves at times.
They act as if nothing matters anymore from how they feel from within and can’t seem to get it together like they use to from drawing into some type of depression. They need friends who has more positive reactions about living.
America is the land of breaking tradition and starting your own. Back when the “flappers” changed tradition in the 1920′s, this is when it started. Short and sweet, in the USA we have the right to change and do whatever we want. If I wanna take my mom to a bar and get fuxed up, that’s alright here. My dad isn’t going to beat me to death and a man will still want to marry me.
Well, that’s just my opinion.
