What ideas can you share for a Native American Indian wedding?

DvorC44 asked:
My fiance’ and I have both been previously married. We would like to incorporate some of his heritage into our wedding, something totally different from traditional weddings. He is part Chicwana(sp?) However I can’t find any wedding traditions for this tribe. I have an idea for the ceremony. It’s decorating for the reception and favors that has me at a loss. This will be a low budget, low key wedding, hopefully outside. We haven’t set a date yet so I have plenty of time to hear your suggestions, which will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
It doesn’t neccessarily have to be from that tribe. We live near the Finger Lakes of NY, Seneca, Keuka, Cayuga, Canidagua. Local tribes would be fine.

Buy dream catchers in your wedding colors for favors. Use colors like peach, creamy yellow, salmon, and blueberry for a traditional, yet sophisticated look. Use the blueberry for table clothes. Buy peach carnations for a centerpiece. The salmon is good for napkins and a small round piece of cloth under the vase for the flowers. The vases could be pottery painted creamy yellow.
I do research in Native American history and would be happy to help you, but I have never heard of the Chicwana. Maybe you could ask him what his heritage really is and re-ask this question?
