  • DO NOT wear white or anything remotely white!!! White is to be worn by the bride only…

and as far as what you should wear it depends on what type of wedding it is. If its formal an evening gown would be appropriate. Usually the bride will say in the invitation—black tie affair–if she wants it really formal
Brides also use the phrase—black tie optional—which means that its not strictly really formal—men may dress down a little more with not wearing a suit or a tux—but women still are a little more dressed up by wearing a party dress or a cocktail dress— A black dress is always safe if it something a little more dressy

Now if it is going to be a bit more casual—which a lot of summer weddings are—you probably wouldnt want to wear black—maybe a sundress with a bright color—solid, floral, or print are all fine.

If you are worried that you arent going to get the right thing ask for her opinion or someone else thats going—and as long as you don’t wear white I’m sure you won’t ruin her wedding. Oh and its always better to feel a little overdressed for the occasion than underdressed.

  • Don’t wear pants! You should wear a pretty dress such as the one on this link:

it’s beautiful! i think it’s perfect for a wedding becuz u dont wanna updo the bride but u dont wanna look trashy!

  • A lot depends on how formal the wedding is and where the ceremony and reception are. An evening wedding would normally be a cocktail type short dress, high heeled sandals, and nice jewelry.

A more casual day wedding would be a pretty dress, skirt and blouse, or day suit.

BUT I would think you could strongly consider wearing a beautiful salwar kamees in a turquoise or fuchsia for either a day ceremony or night event, with more gold and embellishment at night. Your friend knows you are Indian, right? I love the way those outfits look.

As long as you are not overly embellished or in white or ivory, you most likely will be fine!

  • Anything you want, but:
    (1) No white
    (2) Dress for the type of wedding. If it’s in a church or a hotel, you can wear a medium-formal outfit (dress or pantsuit). If it’s outdoors, then maybe a little sundress. Weddings really vary in the U.S., because they can go from “backyard BBQ” to “Black Tie at the Ritz.”

My fiancee wore a very cute Ann Taylor dress to my friend’s wedding (but I was a groomsman in it).
You could wear indian garb if you’d like, but I think ones with built-in trains may be a bit too showey.

I’m sure the flower skirt and bouse or pantsuit would be fine, so long as the wedding is not a black tie wedding and not on the beach. :)
    =–
    Examples? I dunno…

  • yeah i would say a nice dress, for summer. any color would be nice.

  • try a nice summer dress and just wear your hair down and wavyish… try a yellow dress cuz it looks good with tan skin! good luck :)
